Whole Child Social & Emotional Development

I am available to meet with parents privately to discuss supporting your child. I work collaboratively with your child, you, your child’s teachers and administrators to make your child’s experience coherent and loving.  The goal is to be able to objectively measure progress for any skill, increasing the student’s confidence as they gain access to their grade level curriculum at school.

Mission

What I Stand For

A person is like a wave, dynamic and interacting with a huge amount of variables. Students have backgrounds and strengths and weaknesses. I start with a student’s background. Then we look at the basic components of literacy or numeracy.

Once we have an understanding of the skill level a student has in these areas we can begin to construct an instructional plan. Each meeting has a lesson plan, and each plan takes into consideration performance and skills. We modify according to the living, breathing student, who is a member of a family, a school and a community. This person deserves the best individualized support possible!

Providing an Environment for Your Child to Grow & Excel

30-minute Complimentary Consultation Sessions are available. Please click here to book now and discover if I’m the right fit to support your child. The first session is held at my office. After the first appointment, I will create an instructional plan uniquely designed for your child using informal assessments, and any formal assessments you might like to share, to create a baseline for a given area of struggle, such as reading, writing or arithmetic. If your child has an Individualized Education Plan(IEP), we will work toward a goal or goals in the IEP. If they do not, we will create a goal or goals with methods to attain and measure the goal(s). We always use our strengths to access any area of perceived weakness.

What Parents and Students are Saying

“Ms. Stewart was my RSP teacher. She helped me with my writing, reading and math. She made school easier for me. I liked that she was always happy with me and the work that I did with her. Ms. Stewart was just fun!”

“Being a parent can be stressful. And, as you know, it’s also such a gift. Sally Stewart has a gift. Some people would say she is empathic. Let’s just say Sally can channel her inner child.

Understanding a child’s learning difficulties takes a special gift. Knowing how to put that into practice requires knowledge and skill, yet another gift. Sally understands how education works. My son grew as a result.

Sally Stewart gets an A+. This is from my personal experience.”

Parent

“I am tremendously grateful for Sally. She is an incredibly effective, thoughtful, creative, and supportive teacher. My son worked with Sally for four years beginning when he was nine. When we first came to Sally, my son was seriously struggling with his dyslexia and it was detrimental to his sense of self esteem. I was worried for him. Sally was honest, but hopeful, telling us that our son had a hill to climb. Over the course of four years, he climbed that hill with Sally at his side, and he became a reader, and most importantly he became a confident learner, able to face academic challenges. Now he is a successful 10th grader. Thank you so very much, Sally.”

“Ms. Stewart was my son’s first special education teacher. I am so grateful for her time and help with my son. She genuinely liked him and cared about him. He really struggled with writing and she had him writing little stories by the end of the school year. Ms. Stewart knows how to bring out the best in her students!”
